KAVA Congress Centre
On Friday 2 and Saturday 3 October 2026, the Dutch Scientific Society for Sexology (NVVS), the Journal of Sexology (TvS), and the Flemish Association for Sexology (VVS) come together for their joint anniversary congress. It is a milestone edition, marking 45 years of the NVVS, 50 years of the TvS, and 55 years of the VVS.
The congress looks both back and forward, reflecting on how sexology has developed over recent decades and how the field has broadened from a focus on dysfunction and treatment toward a wider understanding of sexual health, wellbeing, diversity, and relational quality. That evolution runs through the programme, spanning biomedical questions around hormones, life stage, and physical health, societal themes such as consent and polarisation, and digital developments including sexting, dating, and AI, with attention to inclusive care across different physical and psychological experiences. Alongside a varied programme of speakers from across the field's subdisciplines, there is ample room for exchange between colleagues from the Netherlands and Flanders, rounded off with a festive close befitting the anniversary.
Held at the KAVA Congres Centrum in the Zurenborg district, a well-connected conference venue close to Antwerp-Berchem station, the congress offers an accessible setting for the Dutch and Flemish sexology community to gather.
